YOUTH REPORTS
2001 – Tuesday 25th May
Auchinleck Talbot 2 – 1 Crosshouse
On a scorching hot night with only 10 men due to illness and injury with moral low after our defeat in the league cup final the last thing we needed was to be up against an unbeaten team carrying a full squad and sitting top of the league but our boys strolled onto the pitch took there positions and never looked back an outstanding performance from Talbot showing strength and determination but must of all showing hunger hungry for a win to push them further up the league and in with a fighting chance to gain one of the top positions
Total respect to everyone of these lads who controlled the park and never gave up leaving Crosshouse totally speechless and giving the Talbot lads a well deserved win. Goals Jamie Conn -2. Man of the Match Jamie Conn.
Sunday 28th May
Prestwick 4-2 Auchinleck Talbot
Another good performance today from the Talbot lads with some good football on display and with plenty of good opportunities available but unfortunately we just couldn’t deliver but all in all a good solid performance
Goals Jamie conn -, Taylor Kerr-1. Man of the Match
Jamie Conn.
2003
Beith 2-4 Talbot
An away trip on a school night , but it was worth it, Talbot could have scored a few more , they hit the post and the bar a couple went just wide , every boy played well but the star of the show and deserved man of the match was Michael Kane who scored all four goals.
Talbot 3-2 Prestwick
Another win for the boys , this was the last game of the season on a roasting hot night and they made sure they finished the season strong with 3 wins in a row and a draw last 4 games, Talbot found themselves 1-0 down against the run of play before John Johnstone found the net to equalise , second half Kyle shankland put the boys 2-1 up with a great finish on his unfavoured right foot, Prestwick who have previously 3 times stole draws from Talbot with late goals equalised with 5 minutes to go from a corner…then…payback with pretty much the last kick of the ball Michael Kane has whipped in a free kick , Callum walker has somehow managed from the ground to knock it away from the defender for captain Gavin withers who had come up from centre half to pick his spot and side foot it past a packed goal line and get the winner , man of the match for his goal and work rate was John Johnstone ,the boys would like to thank all the supporters who have been coming along all season and recently to support them, they are playing on beechwood this Monday 7.30 kick off in an end of season game versus caley thistle we hope to see you all there
2005 – Auchinleck Talbot 2005s very last 7 a side game was against Girvan at home in a sunny May morning. It had been a long journey to get to this stage in the teams history. Hoping to go 11 a side in August and still looking for players to bolster the team and make it stronger. This was a high tempo match right from the start with both teams trying to get the first goal to have a foot hold on the game. Girvan scored first with a scrappy goal but within a few minutes Talbot pulled it back with some great individual play from Calum Wilson who beat 3 Girvan players and passed a great ball to Fraser Hume who tapped the ball home from close range. It was one each at half time. The second half started as frantic as the first with both teams trying to get the second goal. Girvan achieved that but again Talbot got the equalizer through Cody Gibson with a thunderbolt shot that left the keeper with no chance. Talbot started to dominate the game by hitting the cross bar, post and with the keeper pulling off some great saves. They tried everything to win this game but the ball just couldn’t go into the back of the net. It finished 2-2 a well deserved score line for the last game off 7 a side football. A big thanks to all the parents and players that have been associated to the club over the years from Hugh Fowler and Gordon Wilson and hope to see you all in August.
