Talbot Academy news

U19’s – Talbot welcomed Troon to Auchinleck for Sunday’s league match. Talbot started well and had Troon on the back foot from the first whistle. After 25 minutes of constant pressure, Talbot took the lead when the Troon goalkeeper was forced to make a good save however McLean was on hand to tap in the rebound, 1-0. On 35 minutes, Laird ran clear and was pulled down by the Troon goalkeeper. Dempsey stepped up to put

the penalty away, 2-0. The second half started in the same way, with Talbot knocking the ball around well and creating numerous chances. But it wasn’t until the 70th minute before they scored again. A long pass sent Dempsey clear and he fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner, 3-0. Talbot continued to create chances but failed to add to their lead. Troon managed a late goal after a mix up at the back post. Full time

Auchinleck Talbot 3 Troon 1.

2003 – Free week. Talbot have a top of the table clash at home to Hurlford on Saturday which is sure to be a great game.

2006 – Games postponed

2007 – The lads were at home to Cumnock on Saturday and didn’t produce the form that they have shown recently. Cumnock started the game on top as Talbot weren’t playing the free flowing football they usually do. Talbot grew into the game but passed up some glorious opportunities to score, most notably two one on one’s with good saves from the Cumnock goalkeeper. Into the second half, and Talbot just weren’t producing the goods. The boys have been making great progress with their quick attacking, creative play of late, but it was one of those days where it was never going to materialise. Still a few positives to take from the game and a lot of learning points too for the lads. Ryan Harte was much more steady and showing signs of his usual good play with good composure on the ball and aggressive tackling. Christiyan Simmonds had an

excellent game in goal, making a few great saves, showing great desire to do well. We’ll done.

2008 – Two teams were away to Valspar on Thursday night. Both Talbot teams have made progress recently and again showed spells of good stuff, putting together some good team moves with certain players showing good pieces of individual skill. Again, lots of learning points to take from the matches, with things to work on in training. The kids are enjoying their football which is good to see. Lapses in concentration creep

into their play in games but this will slowly begin to get better as they’re only young.Onto next week against Glenburn.

2009 – Three teams played at Prestwick on Sunday.

Golds- Started slowly but remained competitive in t heir first two games creating plenty of chances but failing to take them. In their third match they were excellent, creating lots of opportunities and scoring a few goals. They continued their good play on game four in what was a tough match against a good side. Talbot put in a great performance. Special mention to Calvin Gardiner who in only his second week of competitivefootball showed a great work rate with excellent passing and awareness.

Blacks- In their first two games the boys created plenty of chances however bad luck and good goalkeeping ensured things didn’t go Talbot’s way at times. It was end to end stuff in game three with both goalkeepers making some excellent saves to see out a goalless draw. A much improved performance in the last game with some good passing, movement and goals. A special mention to Caleb Muir who in only a few weeks here

continues to show good ability on the ball with some crisp passing and a sweet goal.

Tigers- A great start from the boys with some nice passing leading to some well take n goals. Good teamwork when defending and good distribution with the ball when won back in possession. The work rate from the boys was great, especially Frazer McFadzen who’s teamwork and passing were rewarded with goals.

2010 – Two Talbot teams played their first matches at Prestwick on Sunday morning. The weather was horrible but didn’t dampen the kids spirits. Talbot more than held their own, with each team playing four games against a variety of opponents. Talbot played with great enthusiasm and showed some great tackling and dribbling. They scored a good few goals and really enjoyed their football. An excellent start from Talbot in their footballing journey. The kids did their parents, coaches and the club proud.

2011 – Free week

GEORGE “PUGGY” ALLAN

Auchinleck Talbot were saddened to hear about the death of former captain George Allan. ” Puggy” was a magnificent servant at the club and was one of the players that was instrumental to Talbot’s rise to greater things. The club as well as the supporters would like to pass on our condolences to George’s family.
