A shell-shocked Talbot squad will know they will have to take something from this potential banana skin of a tie after the shambles of last week. This Saturday we travel to Newton Park in Bo’ness to face cup experts Bo’ness Athletic who have already overcame Kilwinning Rangers and Beith in the Scottish Cup prelims, and no doubt they will be up for today’s game after our 3-2 humiliation to North minnows Lossiemouth United.
Under the leadership of ex-Pollok gaffer and Hibs player Willie Irvine, Athletic are making a concerted effort in trying to get themselves into the EOSL Premier Division. Last week they battled out a 0-0 draw with fellow promotion contenders Camelon at Newton Park.
Although Talbot have already beaten EOSL Premier league sides Hutchison Vale and Haddington so far this season, the fact that Athletic have already dumped two Ayrshire sides out of the premier competition in recent weeks has certainly caught the Talbot’s attention.
With the Junior Cup having been earmarked by most of the Talbot fans as a winnable competition now passed them by, they will certainly expect a concerted effort by the players to to try and stay in this cup.
Most of us will have been to Newton Park at one time or another, but if not set your sat-nav to : Newtown Park
