6.Ensure that mandatory regulations are followed when using hospitality facilitieswithin the stadium.7.Where possible, keep a distance between you and other supporters when seated inthe stadium. We thank you for your ongoing commitment to the guidance, regulations and protocols andfor your help in reinforcing the measures which we hope will be heeded and ensure thatwecan all continue to enjoy the national game with supporters in attendance.Scottish Football AssociationIang.Maxwell@scottishfa.co.ukMr Neil DoncasterScottish Professional Football LeagueNeilDoncaster@spfl.co.uk27 August 2021COVID-19 MITIGATION MEASURESYou will be aware that new cases in Scotland have more than doubled during the last week. This is one of the sharpest rises we have seen during the pandemic. We always knew that cases were likely to rise as restrictions eased. However, the scale ofthe increase is of real concern. While the vaccination has significantly weakened the link between new cases and serioushealth harms, and please do continue to encourage people in your sector to get both doseswhen offered, it has not been completely broken.Scotland’s health and care service is under considerable pressure and there is a risk that ifthe surge continues or accelerates – increasing pressure on hospital beds and ICUadmissions – then we cannot rule out having to re-impose some restrictions. We do not want to return to more stringent measures, but this is yet another fragile – andpotentially very pivotal – moment in our journey through the pandemic. We are asking all sectors – as part of a collective wider effort – to step up their efforts toreduce the spread of the virus. This means taking all possible proactive steps to promote and reinforce the baselinemeasures, the promotion of advisory precautionary measures and sector specific goodpractice in your sector.
-
There are four areas that are still required by law:1. it continues to be the law (unless for some specific exemptions), that face coveringsmust be worn in all the same indoor settings as they were before 9 August and facecoverings continue to be required on public transport;2. as before, hospitality (restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, hotels where food/drinkconsumed on the premises) and also now since the opening of the night-time sector, entertainment venues (nightclubs, dance halls, discos and sexual entertainment venues) arerequired to collect the contact details of customers so that Test & Protect can continue tocontact-trace positive cases;3. as before, businesses, services providers and places of worship must have regard toSG guidance about measures to minimise risk of exposure to coronavirus relating to theirbusiness, service or premises; and4. organisers of outdoor events of more than 5,000 people outdoors and 2,000 peopleindoors will still require local authority permission before they can go ahead, as this will allowus and local authorities simply to be assured of the arrangements in place to reduce the riskof large scale gatherings. For football this means the strict reinforcement of the need for face coverings at all timeswithin indoor elements of stadia and strict adherence to the guidelines around hospitalitywithin the stadium setting. All spectators/fans should also be encouraged to undertake lateralflow home tests before attending games, which are available for free.I would be grateful for your confirmation that this has been conveyed to all clubs, and that inturn clubs will reinforce messaging is issued to all spectators as soon as possible.Kind regardsHUMZA YOUSAF

TALBOT MAKE PRESENTATION TO BILLY AND DON Talbot made a special presentation to Billy Harvey and Donald Hamilton for their work as voluntary site managers for the floodlight project. Unfortunately Don couldn’t attend due to other engagements but Billy was there to receive a small momento from club secretary Henry Dumigan. Don and Billy were there every day overseeing the work being done at the ground as well as fitting the peripheral lighting. Along with the Talbot the Beechwood Regeneration Committee were thankful for both Billy and Don’s commitment to the venture.

SCOTTISH CUP THROWS UP LOCAL DERBY
With only a handfull of WOSL clubs taking part in the Scottish Cup first round draw it was a cruel blow when Talbot were paired up with Irvine Meadow after Sunday’s draw. Meadow currently sit seventh in the premier league and after a shakey start to their campaign where they lost two out of their opening three games the North Ayrshire side have hit a purple patch which includes inspired draws against Darvel and Clydebank.
With two Talbot legends as co-managers Colin Spence and James Latta, the Meadow squad also has a number of players who plyed their trade at Beechwood. Along with Dylan Pooler and Kyle Faulds the Medda also have Jamie Whyte and Martin Findlay son of Ross Findlay.
Meadow progressed to round one after a 2-1 home victory over EOSL premier side Musselburgh who are sitting mid-table at the moment. The match itself should attract a lot of interest in the region, and with Talbot as the visitors it should also see a decent crowd. The tie has been set for the 18th September with a 3pm kick-off.
The full draw is:
Nairn County v Strathspey Thistle
Wigtown & Bladnoch v St Cuthbert Wanderers
Fraserburgh v Sauchie
Banks o’Dee v Turriff United
Newtongrange Star v Dalbeattie Star
Cumbernauld Colts v Buckie Thistle
Spartans v Gala Fairydean Rovers
Penicuik Athletic v Tranent
Blackburn United v Rothes
Broomhill v Glasgow University
East Stirlingshire v Fort William
Coldstream v East Kilbride
Lothian Thistle HV v Edinburgh University
Clydebank v Dalkeith Thistle/Burntisland Shipyard
Berwick Rangers v Gretna 2008
Caledonian Braves v University of Stirling
Lossiemouth v Preston Athletic
Dunbar United v Camelon
Brechin City v Vale of Leithen
Inverurie Loco Works v Jeanfield Swifts
Keith v Darvel
Golspie Sutherland v Civil Service Strollers
Wick Academy v Bo’ness United
Formartine United v Cumnock
Huntly v Hill of Beath Hawthorn
Irvine Meadow v Auchinleck Talbot
Forres Mechanics v Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
Deveronvale v Haddington Athletic
Clachnacuddin v Dunipace
Tynecastle v Brora Rangers
CUMBERNAULD UNITED A REAL TEST
Talbot face Cumbernauld this Saturday in a game we desperately need to win to keep our top spot in the league title race and this will see us come up against two ex-Talbot players Danny Boyle and Klark Thomson. Boyle will be remembered for his transfer request from Beechwood, While Thomson was a raw youngster when he joined the Bot.
The “Nauld” have been impressive so far this season except for two poor results where they went down 4-0 to Largs and were spanked 5-1 by an indifferent Pollok side. However they have enjoyed some decent wins over Cumnock, Hurlford and Troon as well as a share of the points at Clydebank.
Under the leadership of rookie manager Tony Fraser and his assistant Chris Zok the Guys Meadow side have enough about them to beat the dreaded drop, and showed this last week when dumping Kilbirnie out the Scottish Cup.
The match will be officiated by referee John McKendrick and his assistants David Miller and Gavin Cousar. Beechwood will have its new safety nets behind each goal in operation, but hopefully the only nets called into action are the one’s behind the Cumbernauld keeper.
