DC Lighting Services Ltd will carry out our Annual Floodlight Maintenance Checks – Week Commencing 5^th August

Talbot have been quick off the mark to release their pre-season fixtures which includes a glamour match at Beechwood with Kilmarnock.

Games start on Saturday the 6th of July when Talbot hosts East of Scotland 1st Division side Thornton Hibernian. The Hib’s were good enough this season to win their way into the EOSL middle division after a neck and neck battle with eventual winner Bo’ness Athletic who took the title with a single point.

The match pitches together two of the longest serving managers in the Scottish pyramid with Tucker 20 years at the helm while Craig Gilbert who was wrongly dubbed the longest serving manager in the Scottish Pyramid by BBC’s A view from the terrace has a mere 16 years

 

 

On Wednesday 10th July we head up to Pennyburn to play Kilwinning Rangers. This will be the first of three pre-season encounters with teams from the league below, and they will all be keen to get their pre-season preparations off to a decent start as this league looks much tighter this year with no obvious big spenders unlike the past two seasons.

This is followed by a double header on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th July. Firstly we entertain Lowland League side Tranent on the Saturday in our annual friendly match. Although our visitors finished 21 points behind East Kilbride in last season’s title chase, the “Belters” proved to be a thorn in EK manager Mick Kennedy’s side by dumping them out the Scottish Cup and defeating them in the final of the Lowland League Cup.

The following day we have a visit from SPL side Kilmarnock which should pull a decent crowd to Beechwood considering Killie will be playing in Europe this season.

Talbot are under no illusions that Kilmarnock will probably send a youth squad to Beechwood, but its congratulations to the backroom staff for arranging such a difficult opposition.

Wednesday the 17th has us travelling to Irvine Meadow for a match against the relegated North Ayrshire side who should prove decent opposition as they will be desperate to bounce back out of the 1st Division.

Saturday the 20th we have a home tie to look forward to when 1st Division Thorniewood United come to Beechwood. United had a decent season consolidating the position in the 1st division and under the management of former Talbot legend David Gormley we should have a cracker of a match ahead.

All weekend matches have a 2pm kick off while the midweek encounters at Kilwinning & Meadow match are pencilled in for a 7.30pm start.

This unique annual event defines what makes Auchinleck Talbot so special and underlines the strong bond between the club, the fans, and sponsors. It serves as a reminder of the esteemed place the club has within the village.

The fundraising club has for years played a pivotal role in providing funds to sign new players and extend the contracts of current players. Gareth Armstrong was the Fundraising Club’s player of the year last year, and at the event that saw the social club packed out with Committee, Management, Players & Supporters, there was also awards for Ross Taylor, Chris Stafford, Keir Samson, Michael Wardrope & Neil McPherson.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Andy Devlin was also given a presentation to thank him for his sterling service to the club. Andy does all the catering for the club but so much more, and this was reflected by the cheer Andy received when he rose to collect his award, showing the respect and popularity he enjoys with everyone connected with the club.

Many thanks to everyone who sponsored our final home match as we signed off for the season at Beechwood with a thrilling 6-3 victory against Pollok. Both sides deserve enormous credit for giving us such a high quality match watched by a large and appreciative crowd.

The John & Margo Kiltie sponsor’s lounge was yet again packed out with no fewer than eleven groups presenting Man of the Match awards. That itself speaks volumes about the club and it’s loyal following.

Prior to the presentations being made, our Commercial Manager Colin Chisholm thanked and praised the many groups who work in and around the ground on match days.

He praised the efforts of the players, and the management and coaching team of Tucker, Alan, Whitey and Brian for their efforts throughout a season which has finished on a high optimistic note following the upheaval and changes in personnel we experienced prior to the season starting. Amazing progress has been made with this young and exciting group of players.

Colin also thanked our Clubs Hosts, Ross Findlay, Willie Young, Derek McDicken, Andy Davidson and last but not least, Kenny Paterson who co-ordinates the match host operation.

Finally, Colin thanked all our supporters for their amazing backing throughout the season and he paid a special thanks to everyone both within the sponsors lounge and the social club itself who purchase after match raffle tickets and to Alex Gemmell & Geordie Palmer who sell the tickets. The raffle this year has generated funding to assist with ground maintenance.

We will produce a special feature on the web page in the next week or so to highlight and thank the many people who work for the club during our match day operations.

The Boswell Book Festival will take place with three days of events on Friday 10th, Saturday 11^th & Sunday 12^th May and in addition to the Main Festival there is also a children’s festival. This is a major and prestigious event and is the world’s only festival of Biography and Memoir which in the past has attracted household names such as Judi Dench and Frank Skinner.

One interesting appearance for sports fans is on Friday 10th May at 5.30pm when Rose Reilly MBE is appearing. Rose is the only Scottish person to win a Football World Cup Winners medal.

While the major events will be held at Dumfries House, other venue will also be used. Tickets range from £10-£12 with children’s events costing £3 or £2 for people within the KA18 postcode area.
