GLASGOW SMILES BETTER

Jamie Glasgow proved to be too much for Lesmahagow when he cashed in with two goals and assisted in two more of Talbot’s tally as the Scottish Cup holders put the League 2 side too the sword. A crowd of over 1000 saw Talbot sweep aside a brave “Gow” side who never gave up, but were no match for the rampant Talbot. Super sub Sean McIlroywho replaced first half scorer Graham Wilson managed to bag a brace, while Stephen Wilson scored the opener in a terrific move which involved Glasgow. Talbot ran out 6-1 winners at the end to lift the Sectional League Cup.

TALBOT WEEKLY NEWS

BEECHWOOD REGENERATION REPORT 2018

In last year’s report, we mentioned two projects that were being planned by the Regeneration Committee. The first was the upgrade of the groundsman’s hut / club shop. We’re happy to say that this work has been fully completed with new steel shutters now securing the building.

The other project was looking at alternative facilities for matchday hospitality. This is taking a bit more time and the committee have considered a number of options very carefully. For various reasons, the upgrading of the portacabin mentioned last year has been ruled out. The current thinking of the committee is to look at a bigger scale project that will benefit the club on a number of fronts. We’ve approached an architect to draw up some options on developing underneath the Minerals Trust stand including the relocation of the dressing rooms. This would improve the players’ facilities, with the additional benefit of meeting the requirements for youth / girls’ teams. It would also free up space for sponsorship hospitality and it’s hoped that improving this area would generate more income for the club. This is at a very early stage and we will keep everyone updated through regular articles in the match programme.

Regardless of what option is selected, one requirement that will have to be met is the upgrade of the electricity supply at Beechwood. We’ve already decided to do this and we’ll be looking at completing this soon. It will ensure that when we do any more improvements to our facilities, this will not be something that needs to be revisited.

A lot of things being considered at the moment but it will take time. In the meantime, our thanks go to all fans for their continued support in everything we do.

Auchinleck Talbot Youth Academy Report 2018

Academy’s Development Award was secured in December 2017.A fantastic achievement and a credit to all our coaches, players, parents & officials who put so much effort & commitment into helping us gain the award.

Well done to all our teams who competed last season, success came our way with various cup and league winning performances from our teams.

A specialist Goalkeeping Coach has been added to the Academy setup this season, individual and group coaching session with our goalkeepers are now part of a regular coaching sessions. An addition that’s proving to be very popular and well attended.

Our new girls’ team is still in its infancy, but great progress has been made in securing female coaches with coaching sessions now well underway.

Playing & training facilities still continue to be a major headache for all our teams, little progress has been made on attempts to find a solution suitable for everyone, still in dialogue with East Ayrshire Council & Community Sports Hub over the Merlin & Auchinleck Academy playing Fields.

Several of our U19s have made it into the 1ST team squad for match days, a fantastic achievement, recognition, and just reward to the boys who were involved in coaching, warm up sessions & ultimately making their debut on match day.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long and successful partnership between the Academy & 1st team, in turn giving our youngsters the incentive to push on to the next level.

Thanks once again to all our coaches, players, parents, & helpers for their continued support, goes without saying without their effort & input we simply couldn’t exist or provide opportunities for our young people to play the game they love.

TALBOT ACADEMY

2008s….
Always a fiery fixture when these two teams meet and usually tight games and today was no different although Cumnock owe a lot to there Goalkeepers man of the match performance.
Talbot started the brighter of the teams, creating a couple of chances but unable to finish them. Cumnock looked to soak up Talbot pressure and hit on the counter attack when possible. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Jack Simpson drilled a low cross for the in-sliding Evan Bishop to tap home.  Continuing to dominate possession but being kept out by the in form Cumnock number 1.
The second half continued in the same fashion with Cumnock having little spells on the ball but mainly looking dangerous on the counter. After a well worked move and through on goal Jack was tripped and awarded a penalty. The chance to put the game to bed from 12 yards was squandered, from this Cumnock broke up the park and only a brilliant save from Josh Kerr kept his clean sheet.
Golds:- Derby day always brings a bit extra out in the young players and today Cumnock started the game well and put Talbot on the back foot in the first half scoring a couple of good goals and capitalising on some nervous defending. Talbot could have been in the end of a heavy defeat at this point, but a change in formation and a half time team talk resulted in a superb second half performance with Kaitlin, Jake & Tommy all getting in the scoresheet. Special mention to Connor Blackmore for a second half clean sheet and Tommy Hamilton for a superb performance in midfield today.
Special mention for all new boys acquired from the unfortunate folding of Nith Valley, they all slotted in and played a vital part in both games.
2009s….
Blacks:-
Firstly I would to thank Troon in helping with the numbers today great sportsmanship from them and great to see boys mixing together to play the game
Some really good football played from both sides today
Great to see the passing In our game the boys are moving the ball about well and seeing the rewards that come from this
Workrate is much better from every one of our boys as well and this makes a big difference to how we play , as a team they showed again today they are capable of playing good football both going forward and defensively
Man of the match today goes to luke
Superb finish to set the goals off , good hold up play again and some nice passing with his teammates
Could be a little stronger at times but for what he lacks in strength he compensates with ability
Well done boys 👏🏻
Well done luke ⚽️
Golds v Troon
Great start to the game this morning. Got ourselves into the lead and playing some really nice football. Keep it going all the way through the first half and caleb grabbing a couple of goals.
Second started slowly and Troon took advantage. Got ourselves back into it later on but tired legs started to show. And the woodwork denied us a couple of goals.
MOTM ⚽ Rudi – some really nice touches and passing and worked his socks off all game and a nice assist also well done Rudi.

Talbot on the road again

Talbot were drawn away to Highland League leaders Cove Rangers in the Scottish Cup 2nd round. Cove come from the district called Cove Bay which is a part of Aberdeen.
