YOUTH REPORTS

TALBOT 2003

Caley 1-6 Talbot

Started a bit slow to get to the ball and nervous on a terrible pitch, we managed to go 1-0 up early through Kyle but still really couldn’t get to grips with the game , once Stakim got the second though we found our feet and Kane added goals 3&4 before half time the fourth of which was a great chipped finish over the on rushing keeper

Second half was back to same as the first and we started slowly then josh had a few chances one just wide and two the keepers managed to save but then we finally scored from a corner and Zac goes up and heads one in to make it 5-0 then the Nicolas came on and curled a nicely executed shot past the goalie with his unfavoured left foot.

Caley pulled one back thru a deflected shot.

Goals: Kyle Shankland
Keelan Stakim
Michael Kane2
Zac Mathieson
Jakab Nicolas

Man, of the match: Keelan Stakim

TALBOT U 19S

Talbot 4-2 Glenafton

U19s hosted Glenafton in the William Tracy cup 1/4 final. This was the third meeting with our local rivals this season, with Talbot winning the first two comfortably.
Today was a different game, with a lot more fight about the visitors. The game started at a fast pace with both teams having chances.
Talbot eventually took the lead on 28mins when a corner from Laird found an unmarked Route and the back post to tap into the net. Glens rallied and levelled 10mins later when a long-range shot was well saved by Rooney, but the glens player reacted first to tap home. Half time 1-1
Glenafton started the second half well and took the lead when their striker headed home on 55mins, 1-2
The lead only lasted 2mins when a corner from Campbell was volleyed in by Meikle to level the game again 2-2. Talbot were now starting to dominate and took the lead again on 65mins when another terrific corner from Campbell was met by the head of Meikle for his second and Talbots third. Talbot continued to put pressure on and scored again on 75mins when yet again a corner from Campbell was headed home by Meikle for his hat trick. Glenafton had a couple of late chances, but Talbot defence held tight to seal a place in the semi-finals.
