YOUTH REPORTS

2003 – Caley 3-6 Talbot. An early mistake let Caley take the lead. The boys were trying hard to get the ball working for them but a bumpy pitch made it difficult and Caley nearly made it two but a brilliant save by Codie Bottell kept it at. Josh Jones then had it back to 1-1, followed by Kyle Shankland for 2-1. Josh then had a second to make it 3-1 and as half time approached things were looking good. Caley pulled one back though against the run of play and at 3-2 half time things were closer than they should have been. Josh then hit his third with a beauty of an effort that hit the inside of the post and in and claimed his third hat trick of the season and his 20th goal of the campaign to give Talbot a two goal cushion. Caley again though hit back and it was close for comfort again. Fresh legs were introduced and Talbot finally put it to bed Josh Jones scored his 4th and Michael Kane made certain with the 6th with a coolly taken finish. Man of the match Josh Jones. The lads are away next Saturday on a bus trip to play Hillwood thistle for the challenge cup.

2005 – Auchinleck Talbot 2005s were at home this week at Auchinleck Academy to face Valspar Athletico. Talbot instantly put on the pressure as soon as the ref blew his whistle for the start off the game with Valspar holding out in defence and the keeper pulling out some good saves. This didn’t last for long and Talbot had their breakthrough with Cody Gibson opening the scoring with a well worked team goal with some great passing from defence through to attack. The pressure continued and Cody Gibson again put Talbot two goals up then Calum Wilson and Josh Suiter made it four just before halftime. The confidence was high and Talbot couldn’t wait to get the second half started. Valspar tried to get back into the game and pulled back a goal but Talbot again put on the pressure with Cody Gibson scoring another four goals to put the game beyond Valspar. This was a very brilliant performance from Talbot 2005s… Well done boys from the coaching team!

2006 – Only one game for the 06’s due to the holiday period. Boswell were away from home this week against Troon thistle. Up against it a bit as both of our goalkeepers were away on holiday but Brayden Allan took over and had a good game in goal. We found ourselves behind by a few goals with some silly mistakes but the boys all pushed hard and were determined to get back into the game. Good goals scored by us with the pick of the bunch from Gavin Kirkland with a brilliant solo run and good finish. Some good football but our passing game seems to have went missing over the past few games and we will be concentrating on getting back into that way of playing. Very good game to watch this week and we are continuing to progress very well this season.

2007 – The boys were at home to Dean Thistle on Saturday. A couple of players were unavailable due to the holidays but again it was another pleasing display from the team. Progress is being made in all areas with again some nice build up play going forward creating lots of opportunities and scoring some good goals. Solid as usual at the back again with a few good saves from Ewan Griffiths who continues to improve in goal through hard work. There were a few lapses in concentration here and there but they’re only kids. Special mention this week goes to Ally Miller for a great display. Great effort from Ally tracking back and some good skill on the ball from him. We’ll do

YOUTH REPORTS

2003 – Talbot 4-5 Beith. The boys were by far the better team and didn’t get the rewards they deserved. Beith scored inside the first minute with a long range hit and hope effort that caught everyone out. John Johnstone equalised with an effort from distance with his unflavoured right foot. Beith then scored from a free kick that Jack Jamieson parried and Beith tapped in. It was then 3-1 from a free kick that looked a great tackle and a harsh decision. The second half Beith broke the offside trap to curl in a good finish that Cody Bottell did well to somehow manage to get a hand to. Talbot somehow found themselves 4-1 down yet had been by far the better team. The boys then dug deep and showed what they’re all about and kept at Beith pressing and passing and moving all over the pitch. Captain Gavin withers brought the boys back into it when he scored from a free kick. Cameron McBride then came up from right back and scored from two corners to make it 4 each. Talbot were turning the screw. Michael Kane was then denied a stone wall penalty when he was brought down inside the six-yard box from the back right in front of the referee. With the clock running down, Talbot were dominating and there was only looking like one winner. But Beith hit another long distance effort from nowhere which hit the back of the net to decide the tie. It was hit perfectly and the goalkeeper had no chance. Sharing man of the match were Cameron McBride and Logan Murray. The boys play Caley away on Saturday.

2006 – Both Tigers and Boswell were at home this week against Stewarton Annick. Both teams were a bit off the pace this week compared to games lately but still some good football at times. Stewarton were very well organised and proved to be a tough side to play our normal passing football against.  A bit more effort from our boys at times this week would have had its rewards.

2007 – Free week

YOUTH REPORTS

2001 Auchinleck Talbot 0 v 4 Irvine Meadow. Disappointing result for Talbot as the lads appeared to be holding their own at half time with no goals from either side. The second half proved to be a bit more challenging but things just didn’t go the way Talbot had hoped for resulting in a defeat. Man of the Match Greig Houston.

2006 Both Tigers and Boswell were away from home this week against teams we have not had much luck against in the past. Tigers were away to Troon thistle Jags and Boswell were at AC Irvine. Both teams were outstanding and the effort from every boy was fantastic. Good teamwork and a huge desire to get results throughout the teams. A mixture of good passing football, great goalkeeping and excellent goals at the weekend was a pleasure to watch. Great day all round for the 2006’s and topped off with a nice hat trick from Ryan McCarron.

2007 The boys were at home to Cumnock on Saturday. An excellent all round display from the boys which has added to their recent run of good form. The attacking play was a joy to watch. The steady defending and building from the back made it easy for the attacking display. Some good goals scored. Could have been a few more but the fact that they were creating the chances was still pleasing. It was a well-mannered game between the two teams with a good desire from both sides to play good football. Special mention this week goes to Callan Smillie for passing and scoring two good goals.

JOCK MUIR

Auchinleck Talbot were saddened to hear of  the recent passing of former President Jock Muir. Jock was a die hard Talbot fan as well as a club official and many of him will have special memories of him.

The club would like to pass on their condolences to Jock’s family.

There will be a minutes silence prior to Saturday’s match against Kilwinning.

WEST CUP DRAW HAS TALBOT ON THE ROAD

Tuesday nights New Coin West of Scotland Cup draw has not been kind to Talbot with a trip to Royal Albert from Larkhall or Maybole. A win in this tie would see us up against Darvel, Kilwinning or Thorniewood.

In the other half of the draw Cumnock, Blantyre Vics, Largs and Rob Roy will be fighting it out for a semi final place.
