BOYS CLUB NEWS

2003s

Rowallan 5 Talbot 2

A lacklustre display from Talbot against a team on form, Talbots own bad decision making giving away needless corners, and slack passing, let Rowallan score 3 first half goals, Gavin withers scored a wonder goal that Ronaldo would have been proud of with a free kick from distance that rifled straight into the top corner, second half, Josh Jones scored a nicely taken goal bursting through and finishing well to make it 13 goals for

the season so far, the referee killed any chance of a Talbot fight back though with a somewhat dubious penalty decision, man of the match was Brad “the hitman” Harte who played well at centre half, breaking up play and passing the ball out from the back, the boys would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

A well-deserved victory with the boys playing great football all over the park, Girvan scored first with a free kick and that was pretty much all the chances they had, a Josh Jones Hat trick with a Callum walker goal in between, special mention for John Johnstone who worked tirelessly in the centre of midfield and almost scored one himself, cup game away to Dalrymple on Saturday

Talbot could face Beith “Again”

Victory over Pollok this Saturday will see Talbot having to travel to Beith in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup after the draw was made today (30th November) in the Evening Times offices. This would see both clubs face each other for the fifth time in only three months with the last four matches throwing up a win each and two draws.

With a favourable  weather forecast for this weekend the outcome of the Talbot v Pollok tie should be decided by 3.45 pm on Saturday. Talbot will be wanting to replicate the first match display where they bossed the tie for long periods but couldn’t cash in on the hard work outside the 18 yard box. Something they hope to turn around this match.

Talbot go into the replay as firm favourites but Pollok were last season’s cup finalists and a win over them will mean Talbot will then have to dispose of the current holders. This is a big ask for any team but hopefully Talbot have the pedigree to overcome the challenge.

The draw for the 4th Round of the Scottish Junior Cup made today is;

Kilsyth Rangers v Thorniewood United or Bonnyrigg Rose

Cumbernauld United v Luncarty or Rosyth

Carluke Rovers v Irvine Meadow or Darvel Juniors

Beith Juniors v Auchinleck Talbot or Pollok

Renfrew v Stonehaven or Greenock Juniors

Downfield or Broughty Athletic v Sauchie Juniors

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy v Lochee United or Musselburgh Athletic

Fauldhouse United v Maryhill

East Kilbride Thistle or Culter v Dundee Violet or Glenafton Athletic

Girvan v Penicuik United

Gartcairn v Jeanfield Swifts or Hermes

Kelty Hearts v Kirrie Thistle or Hill of Beath Hawthorns

Petershill v Haddington Athletic

Dunbar United v Benburb

Edinburgh United v Kilwinning Rangers

Dundee North End or Linlithgow Rose v Boness United or Blantyre Victoria
