James Latta in injury concern. Drummond leaves Beechwood.

Former Airdrie defender Grant Drummond has been released at his own request due to work commitments. Grant came to Talbot to kick start his career and soon endeared himself to the Talbot faithful with goals against Muirkirk and Lugar. The club wish Grant all the best and hope he doesn’t disappear from the football scene.
James Latta ruptured his A.C. Joint on his shoulder during Saturday’s game at Beith, and he’s scheduled to visit the doctor again on Friday when hopefully he will have a better idea of the damage and the length of time till full recovery. James took a sore one when he fell heavily during last weeks match and its hoped that he makes a speedy recovery.

Talbot Boys Club

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.
2001’s Auchinleck Talbot 3 Prestwick 2. Hard game for the boys with Talbot managing to pull off the win. Goals came from Rhys Griffin 2 and Scott Whalen 1.
Man of the match went to Dylan McConnell.

2003’s Hard game against Irvine Meadow. A team made up of last season’s league winners. The score didn’t reflect the performance. The boys played good football in stages but couldn’t quite find that killer pass or next gear. Work rate, effort and never quit attitude was always there for all to see. Michael McCulloch with the goal, and brilliant performances as usual from Gavin Withers and Logan Murray. The boys now have a
few weeks break from games.

2005’s This week we were at home (Auchinleck Academy) against Ayr Boswell. This match was going to be challenging like every other time we had played them. We started off very competitively with really good football from both teams. Ayr Boswell opened the scoring but we soon equalised with Cody Gibson scoring. Talbot started playing with confidence and were dominating the game when Cody then scored a second goal
and we found ourselves 2-1up at half time. Talbot came out for the second half slightly sluggish and found that they were quickly under pressure and conceded a goal. This gave Ayr Boswell momentum and with Talbot playing some of their players out of position possibly put themselves under pressure and conceded another two. The final result did not reflect match as this was a well fought game with some excellent football from both teams. Unlucky Talbot.

2006 ‘s Boswell and Tigers were both at home on Saturday. Boswell were up against Catrine Youth and every boy performed exceptionally well. Excellent football resulting in good goals with the pick of the bunch coming from Lucca Announce with a fantastic shot from halfway and Lewis Smith with a well-deserved hat trick.
Tigers faced Nith Valley United and again every boy contributed with an outstanding performance. Passing, moving and working as a team was evident from the start and the football was pleasing to watch. Two good goals from Russell Hendry capped off a good day all round for the 2006’s.

2007’s Game for the boys against Troon on Saturday at Auchinleck Academy. A much improved performance from what we’ve seen in recent weeks from all the boys. Some lovely football was played. If it wasn’t for an excellent display from the Troon goalkeeper there would have been lots more goals as well. That’s the level of effort they need to show all the time so that they’ll get the benefit out of it. Keep it up boys. Special mention this week goes to Calum Auld for his work rate and excellent passing.

Late Stevenson winner sends Talbot to the final

A last gasp winner by Dylan Stevenson saw Talbot defeat Beith 2-1 to set themselves up for an Ardagh League Cup final against Kilbirnie Ladeside who beat Cumnock by the same scoreline. It was a hard fought encounter which failed to produce a goal in the first 45 minutes even though both sides had set up good chances. However it was the second portion of the match that had all the talking points. Beith were reduced to ten men after their keeper brought down Keir Milliken and it was the same player who opened the scoring when he out stripped the Beith defence to lob a Martin McGoldrick pass over the replacement keeper. With seven minutes still on the clock Beith equalized when Talbot failed to clear their lines but with minutes remaining a Gordon Pope cross into the back post saw Dylan Stevenson in the right place to sweep the ball into the net.

Talbot snap up Harvey and McCracken

Action 11 Talbot have again been busy on the signing front with 2 year deals offered and accepted by Ross Harvey and Craig McCracken. Former Ayr United central defender Craig McCracken has joined us after a loan spell last season. The Catrine lad made his debut on Wednesday nights 2-1 win over Beith where he put in a man of the match display. Ross has joined us after returning from Australia where he left Geelong. He has come with rave reviews from our man Down Under Stan Webster. Welcome to Beechwood lad’s.Ross-Harvey

Talbot Boys Club

2001 – Wednesday night, Hurlford BC v Auchinleck Talbot. It was a hard game with both teams eager for a win unfortunately the score doesn’t justify the performance and effort displayed from Talbot. Goals came from Jamie Conn -1 and Conan Mackin -1. Man of the Match went to Dylan McConnell.
Saturday, Auchinleck Talbot 5-2 Tass Thistle. Great performance today against a strong and very physical team. Talbot had the game under control and showed their strength going forward and achieved a well-deserved win. Goals came from Justin Barr -1 Rhys Griffin -1 Scott Whalen -1 Jamie Conn -1 Craig Hall -1. Man of the match went to Lewis Bell.

2003 – The team played brilliantly against a Caledonian team who beat them twice last year in close games. The boys played football all over the park. The goalkeeper dealt with everything comfortably and the defense was solid. The midfield was full of running and effort and they dominated possession. Another two goals from Josh Jones, who had his hat trick harshly taken by a dubious offside decision. The boys are away to Irvine Meadow next Saturday.

2005 – On Saturday morning we were at The Old Racecourse Ayr for the match against Valspar United. The weather was perfect for football and Talbot got off to a perfect start with two goals through Cody Gibson in the first ten minutes. They were totally dominant with some great attacking football which lead to Calum Wilson scoring the third. Talbot made a few changes which seemed to disrupt their momentum and Valspar Utd quickly came back into the game with two goals and some great saves from the Talbot keeper Jack Scott. Talbot settled and came back into the game with another two goals before half time from Fraser Hume and Kyle Bone and a few near misses from Ewan MacMillan. Talbot started the second half the way they started the first and were totally dominant and played some great football through defence from Josh Soutters and Kelvin Mouser, through midfield from Darren Jamieson up to attack which led to another five goals from Jay Sharp, Fraser Hume, Calum Wilson and two Ronaldo like free kicks coming from Francis McGhee. Valspar Utd managed to get a consolation goal near the end of the match. Another great performance from the 2005s.

2006 – Both our Boswell and Tigers teams were away to Troon teams on Saturday. The Tigers had a tough game at Troon Thistle but played well in spells. Boswell were exceptional against Toon Juniors, with great team work and plenty of passing and moving and a deserved hat-trick for Mason McNeillie.

2007 – Game against Cumnock on Saturday. It was a tight game throughout. We played some very patchy football first half but picked it up in the second half and started to move the ball a bit quicker and put some decent moves together. Need more work rate off the ball though to give us options going forward and to stop getting caught out of position defensively. Again there was a lack of composure in front of goal which will only get better. There were some vastly improved performances from some of the boys, so hopefully they continue to show the same determination and they’ll develop much quicker. Special mention this week goes to Callan Smillie for tackling and forward passing.

2008 – The boys played at Prestwick on Sunday against Dean Thistle x2, Nith Valley and Greenan. Both teams displayed good passing and team play resulting in good results, the hard work put in on the training field came together today and some of the football was a joy to watch.

2009 – The boys enjoyed their first game at Prestwick with some nice forward play at times with Callum Greenlees in particular shining with some nice goals. At training this week, we will be working more on the defensive side of the game.

Arthurlie League Preview

Talbot travel to face Arthurlie this Saturday in the opening league match of the season and Allan McLuckie is desperate to see a winning performance at Dunterlie Park. Allan told the Web “It couldn’t have been a harder start to the season with a visit to Dunterlie but we have to meet sometime and we are looking forward to the visit. Games at Arthurlie have never really been showstoppers and I expect a war of attrition rather than silky football. It will be a cagey event with both sides not wanting to lose on the opening game of the league campaign.”

When asked about the squad Allan added “We will definitely be missing Graham Wilson after he picked up a two match ban after his red card at Kello, while Mark Shankland will be left to the last kick but he has shown signs that his injury was superficial and he has a good chance of starting.”

Arthurlie have had a less than promising start to their season failing to qualify from the sectional group after defeats at the hands of Neilston and Benburb but they did give a good account of themselves in the Southside derby against Pollok where they secured a 1-1 draw. Talbot will be buoyant after a superb Ardagh Cup quarter final win down at Troon where Keir Milliken and Dwayne Hyslop’s goals were enough to see of the “Seasiders” and set them up with a home tie next Wednesday against Beith in the semi finals.

Allan commented “We were pleased with the performance especially how we coped with a second half onslaught. However we made some decent chances throughout the match and poor finishing cost us especially in the first 45 minutes. Although we lost a goal in the first half I felt we were very comfortable throughout the match. Troon are an excellent footballing side but we knew where their weakness was and we exploited it at every opportunity. The only down side to the game was we gave the ball away to cheaply on some occasions and we need to concentrate on this aspect. “

When cornered about the up and coming Beith matches Allan added “Beith are next week this Saturday is what we are concentrating on. Three points on the board raises moral and we will be going all out the get those points. We are the current champions and everybody is desperate to beat us. Defending your title away from home in the first match is something new to me, but as I have said we had to come to Arthurlie at some point and with a superb win against Troon behind us we have a good feeling in the camp.”

Allan finished by thanking the great support that travelled down to Troon.

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS

2001’s
Auchinleck Talbot 11-1 Hurlford United. Goals came from Jamie Conn who scored -4 Conan Mackin -2 Taylor Kerr -2 Lewis Hood -1 Rhys Griffin -1 Scott Whalan -1 Man of the Match went to -Jamie Conn.

2003’s
Girvan 3-3 Auchinleck Talbot. A really positive performance from the boys and were unlucky not to take all three points but an away draw is points on the board. That’s 3 draws, 1 win and 1 defeat in the last 5 games from last week. Next week the team are at home to Caley.

2005’s
The first game of the new season was against Girvan Juniors and the weather was atrocious with strong winds and rain. Girvan got off to a good start with a goal in the first 10 minutes then Talbot quickly pulled one back through Cody Gibson which seemed to settle the team. Talbot then started to play some brilliant attacking football with the Girvan keeper pulling off some great saves to keep them in the game but Talbot got their reward just before half time when Fraser Hume scored from defence through to attack. The second half was comfortable for Talbot with the whole team working together leading to Calum Wilson scoring the third goal. There was no one stand out player in this game as the whole team played and tried hard with plenty of commitment. This was a good start to new season for Auchinleck Talbot 2005s.
2006’s
Both the 2006 sides were up against it on Saturday due to a lack of numbers. Added to the fact that the games were played in very heavy rain made it very difficult for them. However, they battled on and played some very good passing football at times despite the bad conditions. It was the first league fixture after the summer break and they won’t be long in getting right back into the swing of things.

2007’s
The boys played against Caledonian on Saturday morning. Played well at the start and created lots of opportunities but weren’t getting the breaks in front of goal. They kept on plugging away and the goals eventually came. In the second match they started slowly but then found that extra gear and again played some neat football. The ball needs to move quicker in the final third though which we’ll work on in training. Special mention this week goes to Ryan Harte for a solid aggressive performance and some positive forward passing.
