Talbot Boys football

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.

2001 – Hurlford United 1 Auchinleck Talbot 6. Another 3 points again on Saturday, although Talbot got off to a slow start. They upped their game and dominated the majority of the match, a lot of chances were created for more goals but well done to the United keeper. goals came from Lewis Hood -1 Scott Whalen -2 Justin Barr -3 man of the match went to Justin Barr.

2003 – No game.

2005 – This week Talbot were away to Dean Thistle in Kilmarnock. Unlike last week Talbot were the team that came out fighting right from the start with some lovely passing football. This was rewarded with a well worked goal and a great pass from Taylor Fowler which split the defense for Calum Wilson to rifle a shot past the despairing Dean Thistle keeper. Talbot continued to play some great football but against the run of play Thistle scored an equaliser. This took Talbot by surprise and just before half time Thistle took the lead. Talbot started the second half with loads of energy and pressed the Dean Thistle defense with their keeper pulling off some great saves. Talbots tenacity payed off when Cody Gibson scored the equaliser. The two teams were so well matched with play going from one attack to the other. Both defenses were holding up well until Dean Thistle had a break through and scored to win the game. Both sets of parents complemented both teams in how well they played and enjoyed a pulsating and entertaining game. Well done both teams.

2006 – Both Boswell and Tigers were away to Grange Academy, Kilmarnock on Saturday to play Bellfield. Both teams played really well against tough opposition and the boys efforts and determination showed throughout. Again we were short of numbers and the boys didn’t get a rest but nobody complained. Goals from Lewis McFadzean, Callum Holmes and two goals
from Kiain Robb. We are looking to add one or two experienced boys to our squad. Contact [email protected] for further information/trial.

2007 – The boys played against Cumnock on Saturday at Auchinleck Academy. It was a cracking game of football with decent spells of play from both sides. Effort was good and they showed great composure on the ball at times. They lost their shape slightly as the match went on however that was more tiredness than anything else. There was good movement off the ball but the final pass needs to improve from us as their awareness needs to be better. It was a pleasing display though, with a special mention for Braydan Gooden for his positioning and bringing the ball out from the back.

2008 – Both teams played at Caley parks against three Ayr Boswell teams and Greenan. A mixed bag from the boys this week. There was some good forward play and they were trying to play football the right way but sometimes they were caught out of position when defending which the boys have been improving on recently. When it all clicks the football is a joy to watch.

2009 – The boys were at Irvine playing this week in some glorious sunshine and what a day it turned out to be. All of the boys are really starting to click together and some nice football being played. A good few goals being scored by both teams. Murray McRoberts being singled out this week for his willingness to go in there where it might hurt and ensuring goals come from this. Well done boys.

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.

2003 – The lads played away at Prestwick on Sunday, and it was a great performance. Everyone contributed, especially Cameron McBride. The game ended in a one all draw. Another away point but it was a gutting result as we lost a goal in the last 30 seconds from a free kick. The boys are improving all the time and it’s brilliant to watch.

2005 – On Saturday we were at home to Nith Valley Colts. Nith from the start looked like the team that were up to play football and scored in the second minute of the game, it took Talbot a while to get into the game and when they did they started to play some nice attacking football with the ball hitting the post and the Nith keeper
pulling off some nice saves. Then Talbot had the breakthrough they deserved with Ewan MacMillan scoring a goal to level the game. At this point the game opened up and Nith scored and went in at half time with a narrow lead. Talbot started the second the way they started the first and conceded an early goal this made it difficult for Talbot but with determination and good team spirit closed the gap with a strong solo goal from Calum Wilson. Talbot pressed and looked like pulling off a well-deserved draw but Nith scored in the last minute.

2007 – Game against Ayr Boswell on Saturday at Auchinleck Academy. Some good play at times leading to some cracking goals. Hit the woodwork quite a few times as well. The passing was still a bit slow in the final third. We’ll continue to work on that at training though and it’ll click eventually. They’re starting to progress in the right areas now and attitudes are getting much better. All in all, it was a good display from the boys, with a special mention for Christiyan Simmonds for excellent skills and great forward passing.

2009 – The boys enjoyed another weekend at Prestwick with significant improvement being made each week. Drive, determination and will to win is becoming second nature to these young players. None more so than Lewis Parker who’s ball control, movement and ability to take the game to the opposition get better every time we play.

2008 – The boys played 2 games against Ayr Boswells at Prestwick on Sunday.
Another good morning for the boys who were highly competitive and showed spells of playing real good football. Boys are developing really well and trying to play good football which is pleasing. Special mention to Bobby Reid for outstanding tackling and positional sense.

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.

2005 – Another away game this week, this time to Valspar at the Old Racecourse Ayr. Talbot put pressure on Valspar right from the kick off with some great passing and attacking football which lead to Cody Gibson scoring the opening goal in the first five minutes then within minutes he scored a goal right from the training ground when Talbot were awarded a corner, Calum Wilson passed to Cody Gibson from outwith the penalty box and he slammed the ball passed a despairing goalkeeper. Talbot were in the ascendancy even the defence were pushing forward Kye Bone, Jay Sharp and Josh Suitters were playing with confidence and Calum Wilson scored three along with Ewen MacMillan scoring two in the first half. The second half Talbot made a few changes and Valspar came into the game but the stand-in Talbot keeper Darren Jamieson had a great game and pulled off some great saves. Francis McGhee was solid in defence and Calum Duncan had a great debut and will fit well into the team. Taylor Fowler scored again two goals in two weeks and Cody Gibson scored another two just before full-time. Valspar did score five goals but this didn’t worry Talbot. This was an emphatic win for Talbot with the boys bouncing back brilliantly from last week’s defeat. Well done Auchinleck Talbot 2005s.

2007 – Games against Valspar on Saturday at Auchinleck Academy. Two really tight games with some good football at times from both sides. Movement and awareness needs a bit of work, as does composure on the ball. There were some decent individual pieces of play who then linked in with others afterwards which was pleasing. Our forward play is making progress but lots of work still to be done. Special mention this week goes to Tyler McPike for effort and passing.

2008 – The boys played at Prestwick on Sunday against Caledonian and Troon Dundonald. Really pleasing morning for the boys making great progress and came together on the day today. Good shape, defending and attacking play with all the boys contributing.
Special mention to Andrew Watson for good tackling and determination.

2009 – The boys really enjoyed their games this weekend with a big improvement in performance and understanding of how each other play the last game being especially pleasing as the boys really gave their all with Luke Hannah grabbing four goals in a great team performance

Talbot travel to on form Glens

Talbot travel to New Cumnock this Saturday to take on Glenafton who are enjoying one of their best starts to the league season with two wins and a draw. The Glens moved to second in the table last week with a resounding 3-0 thumping of our Ardagh Cup final opponents Kilbirnie on the “Blasties” own patch.

Goals by David Gray, Ally Park and Chris Dallas did the damage in a match that they dominated and could have added a few more as Kilbirnie were continually opened up with some decent play by the Loch Park side. With a home win against Pollok thanks to a single goal by ex-Talbot player Ally Park and a tough 1-1 draw at Kilwinning the Glens will be relishing the return of the Talbot who sneaked a share of the points in the last Ardagh game when Martin McGoldrick headed a last gasp header.

Talbot will have to shake off the disappointment of last week’s 3-0 home defeat by Beith in the William Hill Cup where the Bot gifted all three goals to the Scottish Cup holders. Talbot will have Mark Shankland and Neil McPherson back in contention but unfortunately the game has come to quickly for James Latta who is still suffering from a shoulder injury.

There is no more injury worries for Talbot although Grant Drummond has parted company with the club due to work commitments. Talbot have been recently linked with the out of contract Carlo Monti from Pollok but it’s a case that Talbot are linked to every high profile player up for grabs.

The match kicks off at 2pm and cloud with patchy rain is expected, so bring a brolly.

Boys Club Round Up

TALBOT BOYS CLUB NEWS.

2001 Thursday

Auchinleck Talbot 7 Bellfield 2. The boys played great football with good work rate and

effort. Talbot played with confidence and had the game well under control to achieve a comfortable win with another three points. Well-earned goals came from Justin Barr 2

Conlin Kelly 1 Jamie Conn 3 Lochie Reid 1.

Man of the Match went to Jamie Conn.

Saturday, KSC 5 Auchinleck Talbot 3 in Scottish Cup. Disappointing result for Talbot although things didn’t go their way. The lads showed strength and played the better football. Lessons learned, now time to move forward with team spirit and a positive attitude and ready for our next challenge. Goals came from Jamie Conn 1 Scott Whalen 2.

Man of the Match went to Jamie Conn.

2003 No game.

2005 On Saturday Auchinleck Talbot travelled south to Kelloholm for a game against Nith Valley. The weather was good and Talbot started well with some good possession however, this was short lived and Talbot found themselves a few goals down against a well organised and well drilled team. Talbot tried to regroup at half time and get back into the match but unfortunately a few of the players picked up some injuries which took its toll and Nith scored a few more goals and pulled away in the match. Talbot can take a few positives from this game. Jay Sharp scored a good solo goal and Taylor Fowler scored with a great shot which nearly burst the net on his team debut. The team can only learn and work hard at training, if this happens then they will get back to their winning ways.

2006 Boswell and Tigers were both in action away to Glenburn MW at Prestwick Academy on Saturday. Both teams performed really well and hard work in training is becoming apparent in games. Lots of improvements all over the pitch and teamwork is much better. Goalkeepers Lawrie Smith and Jamie Wilson made some really good saves and two good individual goals from Lewis McFadzean and Kiain Robb capped off another good day for the 2006’s.

2007 Games against Dean Thistle on Saturday. Really positive performances from all the boys involved. Played great football, worked hard and they got their rewards. The ball was moving much quicker in the final third which they hadn’t been doing too much of in recent weeks. One or two small patches in the game where the concentration levels dropped but overall it was a cracking display with real hunger to work for each other.

Some lovely moves from back to front and when the opportunities were there, they played some good individual stuff as well. Special mention this week goes to Brandon Arthur for a great overall display and keeping a good temperament.

2008 On Sunday the boys were playing five a side at Prestwick. They played 3 Ayr Boswell teams and Valspar. They started off well and played some nice football. Movement, passing and goalkeeping were really good. They’re progressing well.

2009 The team played in the fun fours on Sunday. Passing, determination & effort was really good in the games. They’re starting to play some good football with the more games they play. They’ve come a long way the few weeks they’ve been playing. A good performance this week from Ryan Hodge who played really well and tried hard
