Talbot head out on the road again this time it’s the Scottish Cup Preliminary 2nd round and our first ever visit to Haddington a town situated in East Lothian. Here we take on EOSL Premier Division side Haddington Athletic who are currently sitting mid table with three wins and three defeats.
The game takes place at Haddington’s tidy Millfield Park which boasts a 1,200 capacity along with a covered enclosure. Entry for the 3pm kick-off is £8 adults and £4 concession. Food available.
Athletic are captained by 31 year old centre back Ali Simpson who is now on his seventh season with the club while up front we will need to watch for the likes of former Spartan’s winger Joe Tait and striker Tom Davies who spent time at Arniston and Newtongrange.
Athletic were 1-0 winners over Hutchinson Vale in the league so this will give us an idea of the current strength of our opponents, but it looks to be a tough tie. Talbot will be desperate to avenge last season’s disaster where we lost 1-0 at St Andrew’s, so we will have to be aware that nothing is taken for granted.
If you fancy a tipple before the match then you have the main sponsors bar, the Victoria Inn and near the ground the New Pheasant.
Set your sat-nav’s for Mill Wynd, Haddington, EH41 4DW and we hope to see you all there.
Willie Young Loyal bus leaves Talbot Club 11am via top shops, the Toll, Catrine, Mauchline and Hurlford.
